Carly Rae Jepsen, Train pull out of Boy Scout gig over gay ban
NBC News: Pop singer Carly Rae Jepsen and the band Train have decided to pull out of the Boy Scouts’ upcoming 2013 National Scout Jamboree over the organization’s policy regarding gay, lesbian and transgender members and leaders.
Jepsen and Train were scheduled to be headliners at the July event in West Virginia. Train posted a blog post on Friday explaining they were not aware of the Boy Scouts’ policy when they booked the event. Jepsen tweeted her decision Tuesday after 63,000 people signed an online petition asking her to reconsider her decision to perform at the event.
The Boy Scouts said in February they needed more time to review their policy on gay scouts and leaders.
